Challenging ascents and flowing trails: Tours in the Bavarian Alps

Do want to gather endless meters of altitude? In that case Bavaria’s south – from the Berchtesgadener Alps, Chiemgau Alps, the Karwendel, Wetterstein formation to the Ammergau and Allgaeu Alps – is the right place to be!

Strenuous tours at Kampenwand are rewarded with the beautiful landscape of Chiemsee, whereas mountain bikers that bike uphill in the region of Berchtesgaden-Königssee to be spoiled at a traditional alpine (alm) hut. The lap around the Wetterstein formation is a classic for trained tour bikers.

In the Allgaeu Alps athletic bikers climb up the hills in Oberstdorf and Bad Hindelang.

Mountain biking in the foothills of the Alps

The hilly Bavarian alpine foothills provide numerous fun tours. Oberallgaeu is another popular mountain bike region where bikers climb up the Nagelfluhkette Nature Park around Immenstadt and Oberstdorf.

Moreover, the regions of Tegernsee-Schliersee and Tölzerland provide mountain bikers with a vast network of trails. Especially passionate mountain bikers that live in/around Munich tend to pack up their bikes over the weekend to come here.

Tracks and Bike Parks in northern Bavaria

There are plenty of adventures tracks in the northern parts of Bavaria as for example in the Bavarian Forest, Fichtel Mountains or Rhön Mountains. The trails near Augsburg, Regensburg and Ingolstadt provide more gentle ascents and descents.

If you want to improve your technique you should check out Bike Parks in Bischofsmais or Osternohe.
