From Charleroi, the industrial sites on the edge of RAVeL Sambre quickly give way to rural landscapes. The Sambre becomes wilder, the fauna and the flora are varied. Your ride is cadenced by a series of picturesque locks, calibrated to the size of the old barges that were once built in various shipyards in the area.
The omnipresence of recreational boats shows that Thuin, famous for its hanging gardens, was and still remains a hotspot for canal transport.

EuroVelo 3 - Pilgrims Route
Traversing Belgium, Eurovelo 3 is approximately 200 km long and will give you a good overview of Wallonia’s cities. Crossing Liège, Namur and Charleroi, the route will surprise you with its historical monuments and ancient places. Enjoying the bucolic landscapes of the Land of Herve and the gastronomy of the region is a must-do.
