Mt. Žabijski Kuk (1844 m) from the Podkuk Mountain pasture
From the Podkuk (Kuk) Mountain pasture, this tour initially gently ascends between the pastures to the marked junction for Mt. Žabijski Kuk. The trail will first take you through a nice beech forest. Its soft ground is quickly replaced by rocky terrain covered with grass. The ascent keeps increasing all the way to the first dwarf pines through which you arrive to a large stone cairn. Here, views open to the top and the entire mountain chain from Mt. Šija to Mt. Črna prst. The valley is far below and the slope is steep. To reach the summit, you will only have to overcome an approximately 30-minute ascent. On the top, you will be greeted by a miniature Aljaž tower and splendid views of the Bohinj-Tolmin mountains.
Continue along the ridge towards the north in the direction of Mt. Vogel. The trail is marked, however, markings are very scarce. Continue up and down along the rocky terrain and, when you reach the mountain pass, join the trail towards Mt. Vogel. Turn downhill to the right towards the Razor Mountain pasture. When you reach the pasture, you will be greeted by the tinkling of cow bells during the grazing season. At the mountain hut on the Razor Mountain pasture you can refresh yourself and quench your thirst and then hike back to the starting point.
