Start in the village of Tolminske Ravne and follow the marked trail towards Mt. Tolminski Migovec. When you reach the sign for the Kal Mountain pasture, turn to the right. Ascend through a nice beech forest and along a quite steep ravine and, when you reach the top of the ravine, cross two mule tracks coming from the Razor Mountain pasture.

Immediately when you arrive from the forest, you will be able to notice the mighty Škrbinska plošča wall. Hike along the nicely routed and well-worn trail to its foothills and continue along the western (left) side and around your first destination – Mt. Vrh nad Škrbino. From the Škrbina notch, where you can enjoy in views of the Bohinj area, you will have to climb with the use of safety devices. Soon after, you will reach the top of Mt. Vrh nad Škrbino. From here, you can reach the Globoko Mountain pass along a well-worn trail, which is, however, poorly marked. From the orientation point of view, this tour is undemanding, since the entire ridge towards the east is clearly visible and the trail does not include any critical sections. You should only be cautious when searching for passages at the section before you reach Mt. Vrh Planje in front of the Globoko Mountain pass.

Descend from the Globoko Mountain pass towards the Razor Mountain pasture. Along the trail, you can also visit the fortification from the times of the Rapal border. You will have to walk for another hour in order to reach the village of Tolminske Ravne.

Author’s recommendation

There is no water source along the trail. During the summer and autumn months, you should bring a sufficient supply of water and sun protection.

Destination

Mt. Vrh nad Škrbino (2,054 m), Globoko Mountain pass

Turn-by-turn directions

Take the trail towards Mt. Tolminski Migovec and the Kal Mountain pasture. When you arrive to a distinctive left bend, where there is a sign, turn to the right and start following a quite wide cart track. Cross a small dried-up riverbed and continue to a distinctive ravine. The trail is marked, however, during the autumn season the markings on rocks are less visible due to the fallen leaves. Nevertheless, the trail is easy to follow.

When you reach the first mule track, cross it and continue along the marked trail towards the Kal Mountain pasture. Later, you also have to cross another mule trail leading to the Kal Mountain pasture. When you get out of the forest, you should orientate yourself towards the mighty Škrbinska plošča wall. Pass it along its western side. From the Škrbina notch, follow the markings to Mt. Vrh nad Škrbino. Continue along the ridge to the east. The trail is well-worn and easy from the orientation point of view.

Just in front of Mt. Vrh Planje, the trail disappears for a while due to the rocky terrain, however, you should have no problem passing. Keep following the northern part of the ridge.

From the Globoko Mountain pass to the Razor Mountain pasture and further, you should follow the marked hiking trail.
